    Presentation Summary:

The year is coming to an end, the holidays are upon us, and we are preparing for the shift to 2024.  For some, this time of year includes the feeling of struggle to keep up with holiday pressure, reminder of lost loved ones,  or the experience of deep loneliness.  Please join us as we explore sensitive mental health situations and try to understand the impact of suicide in the workplace and our community.  During this panel style discussion, we hope to instill confidence in navigating these situations while bringing mindfulness and compassion to the forefront of how we react and communicate with our employees.  This event is free and open to nonmembers.  Lunch will be provided

We will also be holding our annual SHRM Foundation Silent Auction Fundraiser during this meeting   https://gvhra.shrm.org/foundation

    Presenters:

Tia Goebel- Executive Director of The Compassion Project

Tia Goebel is the Executive Director of the Compassion Project, an organization dedicated to spreading and teaching compassion through art and mindfulness. Tia is also a Masters Student at MSU in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Tia believes she is here to listen, learn, unlock potential, and collaborate with others to challenge inequity and build community solutions. Community organizing with our local tenants union, Bozeman Tenants United, keeps her grounded, as a tenant herself, she feels the affordability and livability crises in our valley. She and many of her friends and family have struggled with depression, anxiety, suicide, and other mental health challenges, which is a major reason she is pursuing a degree in counseling. Balance is so important in life and in practicing compassion, and so that's why you will find Tia enjoying a warm beverage at Steep Mountain, hiking, lounging with a book, playing board games, or hanging out with her partner and their two dogs and cat at home.

Perrin Lundgren – Program Manager at the Help Center

Perrin Lundgren has been with the Help Center since 2010. Starting as a volunteer and was later hired as a staff member answering the Crisis lines. In 2014 Perrin completed their master’s degree in Marriage and Family counseling and began working for the Sexual Assault Counseling Center as an Advocate Counselor. In the past few years Perrin has worked as the Community Educator and became the Program Manager of the Sexual Assault Counseling Center.

Danielle Sather -Executive Director of Suffer Out Loud

Dani is the Executive Director for Suffer Out Loud, an organization dedicated to lowering the suicide rates in Montana. She has an MA in Performance Studies and an MFA in Theatre. Her primary focus in academia was collaborating with incarcerated individuals through arts education. In the past she has served as an Acting Instructor at University of Montana, Sexual Assault Specialist for Safe Space, Education Director for Verge Theater, and Development and Communications Manager for the Montana Racial Equity Project. All of these roles have required an acute awareness of suicidality and skills for intervention, which is what inevitably led her to her role with Suffer Out Loud. As a suicide attempt survivor and survivor of suicide loss, Dani comes with a personal investment in this work. She believes storytelling and suffering out loud (rather than in silence) can save lives.
