    Noon– 1:00 p.m.: PRESENTATION

    Presentation Description

Join us to learn about the City of Bozeman's efforts to develop an Equity & Inclusion plan for the Bozeman area. Hear about their efforts to make the city a more inclusive and equitable organization for employees while also working towards a Bozeman where everyone can thrive regardless of race, identity, or life circumstance. There will be a short presentation with lots of opportunities to hear from each other as we dive into some of these questions!

    • What role do you see your organization playing in building a plan for equity & inclusion in the Bozeman area? How do you want to be a part of the process?
    • What are you working on right now to make your organization a more equitable and inclusive place to work?
    • What does belonging mean to you?

    BIO of Presenter:

Nakeisha Lyon (she/her/hers), AICP, is an Associate Planner for the City of Bozeman’s Community Development Department. She joined the City of Bozeman in 2020 and is responsible for reviewing a variety of types and scales of development projects in the community. In addition, she serves as a co-leader in the City's initiative in developing an Equity and Inclusion Plan. Nakeisha is passionate about creating a built environment that allows all to thrive which fuels her work for the City and in the community as the owner of a local Jamaican food business, Lyon's Delights. She also serves as Volunteer Admissions Committee Co-Chair for the Sweet Pea Festival, and co-leader for a local Girls Scout Troop. Nakeisha holds a Master’s of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Central Florida and previously worked as a City Planner for municipalities and school districts in Florida. Outside of the office, Nakeisha enjoys traveling with her partner, hanging with her dogs, and listening to local and statewide live music and concerts.

In her role at the City of Bozeman, Community Engagement Coordinator Dani Hess (she/they) helps people stay informed and actively participate in city projects. She supports Neighborhood Associations, facilitates collaboration with students and faculty at Montana State University, and assists city staff in outreach and communications. Dani also works to address equity and inclusion in Bozeman with a team of staff and community partners to develop the City's first Equity & Inclusion plan.
